Nicole

Meet

I was born in Hampton, and raised in Highland Springs, Virginia – the granddaughter of a farmer and entrepreneur and daughter of a public school educator and U.S. postal worker – I am a proud graduate of Henrico County public schools. As a small business owner, nonprofit leader, and mother of three, my lifelong passion for supporting families and communities to reach their potential and goals – especially children’s educational and emotional development needs – led me to public service.

Not only have I instilled the importance of servant leadership in my children, but it is also my motivation to take on leadership roles where I live and work. I firmly believe that we – the people – are responsible for making positive change together.

Together as a family, we are committed to the children, families, and communities of the 66th District.

An Advocate for Education and Youth

In 2021, I was elected to the Spotsylvania County Public School Board and currently serve as vice chair. Over the past three years, I have a proven record of actively fighting for funding, equity, and resources to improve the quality of education for students.

In 2022, I founded the Pathways to Success Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on education and education advocacy, and served as board president for Higher Education and Learning Professional (HELP) Consulting, Inc., a national nonprofit delivering programming for students in three key areas: college and career readiness, social justice, and education-centered grant consulting.

Community Leadership

Prior to becoming a school board member, I served on the Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors’ Citizens Budget Review Committee, where I advocated for responsible local funding for the critical needs of the community, including schools, social services, Parks & Recreation, and economic development initiatives that are foundational for a community to thrive.

In 2024, I was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Rappahannock YMCA. As a new member, my focus was to learn where I could contribute best to the mission of the YMCA and use my experience and skills in governance and leadership to strengthen the Board.

Through my businesses, Nicole Cole Financial Services Group and The College Money Team, started 20 and 15 years ago, respectively, I support individuals, families, schools, and community organizations throughout Virginia by offering free workshops on financial literacy, budgeting, and educating parents and students on financial aid and college funding strategies. Additionally, I actively volunteer and support local nonprofit groups and provide scholarship opportunities to graduates from Spotsylvania County and the greater Rappahannock region.

Investing Today for a Better Tomorrow

I earned a Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Finance and Health Services Management from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Management from the University of Maryland College Park. My commitment to meeting and exceeding customer needs after decades of successfully operating multiple businesses is the type of leader we need in the House of Delegates.

My experience in organizational and personal financial management, while also understanding the complexities of our health care system – from supplier, provider, and consumer points of view –  are invaluable skills as your next delegate for HD66. More importantly, my years of experience in the private, nonprofit, and public sectors makes me accountable to you – the constituents who rely on thoughtful and dependable leaders who work on your behalf.
